Looking for a music band for your next big event in Malta? We met Tram69, Europe’s most popular event band. They played over 400 prestige weddings and events worldwide. Here we ask all the important questions to help you prioritise your big event in Malta.
1. Your music band have played for a lot of major companies in the world and also hundreds of weddings, large and small, what do you enjoy most?
They are all fun. We get to meet so many nice people all over the world and lots of them stay friends and we see them at more events again in the future. We approach all events the same. Its someone’s Big Day, they want it to be the most memorable day of their lives, so we make sure guests leave having the most fun ever at an event. It doesn’t matter to us if we are playing to 3000 people or 50 people, we give 100% and love seeing the happy faces during and after a performance.
2. After 200 weddings or so, what advice would you give to a bride and groom regarding music and entertainment?
Most definitely….don’t stress out. Hire professionals and then relax and let them do what they are good at. This goes for all areas, photos, flowers, organisation, etc. We are always happy to deal with tiny details in the months leading up to an event to put people’s minds at rest, but we are strong believers that couples should not overthink details too much. Live music works best when people relax, chill out, and let themselves go. We are completely flexible in an event. If we end up starting 2 hours late and finishing 2 hours late…its no problem, as long as people have fun. Also, allow guests time to relax…don’t go straight into live music and dancing after a meal…people want to chat and rest sometimes. Weddings are usually a long amazing day. Lastly, unlike a lot of bands, we have learned NOT to agree to a strict set list. You would be surprised what people dance to without realising they would! We know hundreds of songs and always adapt on the night to keep people happy and talking about the night for months to come.
3. What about company events. What would make a great event from your point of view?
From our point of view….we only get involved in the fun part. By the time we see people, we would hope the company has had all the productive meetings or teambuilding time they planned and that the employees or guests are ready to relax and let their hair down a bit. From a planning point of view, we always, of course, fit in with exactly what the client wants, but also advise where possible if required. The best events we have played are where people celebrate working in a great environment and bosses understand the importance of fun. We ensure people leave an event feeling like they have just been to a concert of their favourite band…or in our case….90 or so of their favourite bands. We are definitely not background music. If people want background music…we recommend Mp3s!
4. What would you say to someone who can’t decide between a live band or a DJ for a wedding?
We know some great DJs! It can be a great option. At the end of the day, it can come down to budget etc of course. But nothing can beat the thrill of a great live music band at your wedding playing all your favourite hits there in front of you. This is the biggest most important day of your life and we know from comments of brides after an event who were 50/50 prior to an event, that they made the best decision of their lives to go with live music. Most of our work now, after 10 years, comes from word of mouth via guests who were at a previous event. That makes us very happy as we know that clients and guests were thrilled. That’s our sole aim. Plus of course, we can always play MP3s through the PA system between our live sets.
5. How important is it to work with a great wedding/event organiser?
Totally important! There is so much to think about when organising a big party. There is no way you can do it all alone, especially from afar if it is in another country. You need experts to take the stress away in all aspects of the event. We know from experience how one broken cable or one lost plug can cause huge problems. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link! So choose a strong chain…..then you can relax and enjoy the day.
6. Why do you work with MALTA EVENT DESIGN?
Quite simply…total trust. We know everything will be taken care of so we can concentrate on what we do. Plus our aim is the same. Complete client satisfaction. We both work with the same attention to detail and more importantly…fun.
7. What is the worst event you have played at?
Thankfully we have not had any disasters. Everything is planned so much in advance, we can concentrate on playing and making sure people go wild and love the music. However, one wedding was maybe overplanned to the extent that every minute of all day was listed on a schedule and the organiser, who we won’t work with again, was more intent on ticking boxes than letting people relax and enjoy the moment. That’s actually a good piece of advice…on the day you will find it goes so quickly, so by then let all the arrangements happen, let people do their job…and you, as bride or groom or guest or employee…..drink..eat…smile…chat…dance and have fun. Don’t stress over creased seat covers!
8. What do you guys do when you aren’t at a wedding or event?
We are full-time musicians and have a studio in central Europe. We write music for computer games and commercials and produce other artists etc. But playing Live is our favourite thing, mostly for all the new friends we make. We have travelled to many countries and count ourselves very lucky to have met so many wonderful people.
9. When should someone start thinking about booking you?
Well…. asap! We understand there is a lot to think about with a wedding or event, but we tend to get booked about a year in advance. Most weekends we get 4 or 5 enquiries so we have to work on a first come first served basis. Plus as we travel a lot, an event isn’t just the hours of the concert…it can involve days either side, so we need to make sure we are available and make plans as soon as possible.
10. Lastly, what is your most popular song at weddings?
That varies year by year. We are always happy if we have enough notice, to learn a first dance song that means something to the couple. Last couple of years Ed Sheeran has been popular in that area. Sometimes we get surprises. For one wedding we learned “Pretender by The Foo Fighters”! We can cover anything from Adele to ACDC and from Aha to Abba (and that’s just the letter A !) There are songs that Always go down well……but maybe we should just surprise you with them at YOUR event !!
